Kent- 3/11 The Bus Ride Home

 Excerpt:
. . . . . Small boxes of crackers, bread snacks and more. Usually, if I hadn't had dinner by this time, I would be starving. But today, all the events that happened overwhelms my hunger. My appetite is diminished.
9:30pm--The bus driver stops the bus to let us onto the second rest stop. I sprint outside of my bus because I do not want to have to wait to go to the bathroom. I dash into the bathroom of the convenience store. After finishing my business, I walk around the store, and notice something peculiar. The racks which are usually filled with goods are empty. There is barely anything left in the whole store. Maybe people are buying emergency food. . . . . . . .

Kent's 3/11 Tanka

After the earthquake,
The bus is stuck in traffic,
Roads are packed with cars,
In boredom I peer out the window,
O! The old man I saw two hours ago.

地震の後、
道路は混んで、
動かない。
ふと外を見ると、
さっき見た人。

I saw in awe,
As the power plant exploded on TV,
I couldn’t believe,
That a broken building 200 miles away,
And its invisible rays would change my life.

原発事故、
あいた口が、
ふさがらない
見えない物に、
人生が変わる。

As the building shook,
We ducked under the desk,
And looked at each other,
Hearts pounding and racing,
But we could only smile.

ビルが揺れ、
机の下で、
皆隠れ、
不安の中で、
苦笑いする。

The month of March,
The first time to experience,
Every channel on TV,
Trying to grasp the power,
Extent, and damage of the disaster.
一ヶ月、
何もが初の、
体験だ、
テレビが全部、
地震の残骸。
